Vetro Recruitment has an exciting role for a Children's Support Worker to join a children's residential service in Cwmbran, supporting young people with learning disabilities

What We're Looking For

We're on the hunt for an enthusiastic, resilient, and committed individual who genuinely wants to improve the lives of young people. Your role will be to help them develop socially, emotionally, and behaviourally, all within a safe and caring environment.

No two days are the same as a Children's Support Worker, so you need to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing setting. It's challenging work, but incredibly gratifying!

The Nitty-Gritty

  • Salary: £30,661 - £33,521 (inclusive of 1 or 2 sleeps a week)
  • Location: Cwmbran
  • Hours: 38.5 hours per week
  • Contract: Full Time
  • Shift Pattern: TBD but ideally you will be able to do a 2 on 4. 

Due to the nature of the job and the activities involved, we are only able to consider applicants who have a full driver's licence.

Your Responsibilities as a Children's Support Worker

You'll be crucial in fostering a positive environment and guiding young people:

  • Encourage young people to participate in activities and take responsibility for their own lives, appropriate to their age.
  • Maintain the homely, friendly culture and environment of the homes.
  • Be able to deal with challenging behaviours when needed.
  • Protect children and young people from risks to their health and welfare.
  • Provide support for the children and young people in the home and promote their independence and well-being.
  • Maintain a safe environment for young people.
  • Ensure the safety of the students and maintain an up-to-date knowledge of each individual's care plan, guidelines, reward system, and preferred method of communication.
  • Support taxing behaviour safely and sympathetically.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with staff, parents, Social Workers, and other professionals involved in the young people’s lives, such as Psychologists.

What You'll Need

  • Experience as a Children’s Residential Support Worker or with young people is desirable but not essential.
  • Experience within another healthcare or social care setting is desirable but not essential.
  • You must be a car driver as you will be required to transport young people.
  • You must be over the age of 25.
  • You must be able to commute to Cwmbran.
