Salary: £13.50 per hour / £28,080 per annum (based on 40 hours/week) + Sleepover Payment (£70 per sleep / circa £7,280 annually) | Total Package: Approx. £35,360
Job Description:
Are you passionate about making a positive impact on young people's lives? We are seeking enthusiastic, resilient, and motivated Children’s Support Workers to join a modern, purpose-built residential children’s home in Bodmin. This rewarding role involves supporting children and young people aged 8 to 16 years with Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) and challenging behaviors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Encourage young people to participate in activities and foster independence suited to their age and development.
- Maintain a warm, homely, and friendly environment within the home.
- Deal effectively with challenging behaviors and ensure safety at all times.
- Protect children and young people from risks to their health and welfare.
- Support children and young people in building life skills, promoting their well-being and independence.
- Keep a safe environment for residents, adhering to care plans, guidelines, and reward systems.
- Support and manage challenging behavior safely and sympathetically.
- Build positive relationships with staff, parents, social workers, and other professionals involved in the young people’s care, including psychologists.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of individual care plans and communication preferences.
Requirements:
- Prior experience as a Children’s Support Worker or working with young people is desirable but not essential.
- Experience within healthcare or social care settings is advantageous.
- Full UK driving license is essential, as transporting young people is part of the role.
- Must be over the age of 21.
- Ability to commute to Bodmin.
