Job Title: Children's Support Worker – Aberdare, Rhondda Cynon Taf

Location: Aberdare, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales

Salary: Competitive hourly rates starting at £14.24 (inclusive of holiday pay)

Job Description:

A leading specialist provider is seeking dedicated and compassionate Children's Support Workers to join their team in Aberdare. As a Children's Support Worker in Aberdare, you will play a vital role in supporting children and young people through engaging activities, emotional support, and safeguarding their wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support children and young people in daily activities and interests, including weekends and trips away.
• Attend and facilitate weekend and evening activities, from outdoor adventures to creative pursuits.
• Promote independence and wellbeing among young people.
• Ensure the safety and protection of children by adhering to care plans and safeguarding guidelines.
• Provide emotional and practical support tailored to individual needs.
• Assist in behaviour management, including de-escalation and incident minimisation.
• Support children during holidays, trips, and residential stays, including overnight stays.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of care plans and health and safety procedures.
• Be willing to undergo restraint training if not already qualified.

Requirements:

• At least 6 months’ experience working with children or within a social care setting.
• Strong relationship-building skills and resilience.
• Understanding of trauma, homelessness, and domestic abuse impacts.
• Ability to respond calmly and effectively in crisis situations.
• Empathetic, caring, and resilient nature.
• Valid UK driving licence.
• Restraint training certification (or willingness to undertake training).
• Current Enhanced DBS check on the update service or willingness to obtain one.
• Right to work in the UK.
