Job Description:

A leading specialist provider is seeking dedicated and compassionate Children's Support Workers to join their team in Aberdare. This role offers flexible working hours, allowing you to choose shifts that fit your schedule, whether you're seeking part-time work, additional income, or a career in social care. As a Children's Support Worker in Aberdare, you will play a vital role in supporting children and young people through engaging activities, emotional support, and safeguarding their wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support children and young people in daily activities and interests, including weekends and trips away.
  • Attend and facilitate weekend and evening activities, from outdoor adventures to creative pursuits.
  • Promote independence and wellbeing among young people.
  • Ensure the safety and protection of children by adhering to care plans and safeguarding guidelines.
  • Provide emotional and practical support tailored to individual needs.
  • Assist in behaviour management, including de-escalation and incident minimisation.
  • Support children during holidays, trips, and residential stays, including overnight stays.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of care plans and health and safety procedures.
  • Be willing to undergo restraint training if not already qualified.

Requirements:

  • At least 6 months’ experience working with children or within a social care setting.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and resilience.
  • Understanding of trauma, homelessness, and domestic abuse impacts.
  • Ability to respond calmly and effectively in crisis situations.
  • Empathetic, caring, and resilient nature.
  • Valid UK driving licence.
  • Restraint training certification (or willingness to undertake training).
  • Current Enhanced DBS check on the update service or willingness to obtain one.
  • Right to work in the UK.
