Job Title: Relief/Temporary Children’s Support Worker
Location: Brecon Area, Powys, Wales, United Kingdom
Salary: £14.24 per hour (inclusive of holiday pay) + £76 per sleep in (DOE)

Are you ready to make a real impact on your own terms? Vetro is urgently seeking compassionate, reliable, and adaptable Relief/Temporary Children’s Support Workers for the Brecon Area, Powys, Wales. This Relief/Temporary Children’s Support Worker role in the Brecon Area offers meaningful work, flexible shift options, and the opportunity to support children and young people in day-to-day life.

As a Relief/Temporary Children’s Support Worker in the Brecon Area, you’ll help create safe, supportive routines while promoting independence, wellbeing, and emotional security.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support children and young people with daily activities, interests, and routines as a Relief/Temporary Children’s Support Worker in the Brecon Area
  • Promote independence and wellbeing within the home
  • Attend weekends away, holidays, and trips away with the children
  • Support weekend and evening activities, including outings and in-home activities
  • Protect children and young people from risks to health and welfare
  • Provide emotional and practical support within the home
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of care plans and guidelines to support safety
  • Support, overcome, and help minimise incidents when behaviour can be challenging
  • Be Restraint Trained or willing to complete the required training course

Requirements:

  • At least 6 months’ experience working with children or within a similar social care setting (required for Relief/Temporary Children’s Support Worker roles in the Brecon Area)
  • Ability to build strong relationships with young people
  • Understanding of trauma, including impacts of homelessness, domestic abuse, and trauma
  • Forward-thinking approach to crisis response
  • Emotional resilience—remain calm and collected in challenging situations
  • Empathetic, caring, and resilient nature
  • TMVA – Restraint Training Certificate (or willingness to undertake training)
  • Valid UK driving licence
  • Current Enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to obtain one
  • Right to work in the UK
