Job Title: Relief/Temporary Children’s Support Worker (Restraint Trained)
Location: Maesteg, Bridgend County, Wales, United Kingdom
Salary: £14.24 per hour (inclusive of holiday pay) + £76 per sleep in (DOE)

Are you ready to make a real impact on your own terms? Vetro is urgently seeking compassionate, reliable, and adaptable Relief/Temporary Children’s Support Workers to join our team in Maesteg. This Relief/Temporary Children’s Support Worker role in Maesteg offers flexibility, valuable experience, and competitive pay—while supporting children and young people to live safely and confidently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support children and young people with day-to-day activities and interests as a Relief/Temporary Children’s Support Worker in Maesteg
  • Be restraint trained, or be willing to complete the required training course
  • Promote independence and wellbeing, helping young people build confidence in everyday routines
  • Attend weekends away, holidays, and trips away with the children as part of the Relief/Temporary Children’s Support Worker role in Maesteg
  • Support weekend and evening activities, from community outings to structured experiences
  • Protect children and young people from risks to health and welfare
  • Provide emotional and practical support within the young person’s home
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of care plans and guidelines to ensure safety
  • Support, overcome, and help minimise incidents when behaviour can be challenging

Requirements:

  • Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to engage with young people as a Relief/Temporary Children’s Support Worker in Maesteg
  • Understanding of trauma, including the impacts of homelessness and domestic abuse
  • A forward-thinking approach to crisis response
  • Emotional resilience—remain calm and collected in challenging situations
  • Empathetic, caring, and resilient nature
  • At least 6 months’ experience working with children or in a similar social care setting
  • TMVA – Restraint Training Certificate (or willingness to undertake training)
  • Valid UK driving licence
  • Current Enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to obtain one
  • Right to work in the UK
