Job Title: Children’s Support Worker (Residential)

Salary: £14.24 - £28.48 inclusive of holiday pay (DOE)
Job Description:
Do you want to enable children and young people who have been taken into care to have the best possible start in life? As a Children’s Support Worker in Cardiff, you’ll work 2:1 with other staff members and support children in their homes. This Children’s Support Worker role in Cardiff offers a rewarding opportunity to enrich lives, promote independence, and help keep young people safe and supported.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support children and young people with day-to-day activities and interests as a Children’s Support Worker in Cardiff
- Promote independence and wellbeing for children and young people
- Attend weekends away, holidays, and trips with the children
- Support weekend and evening activities, ranging from everyday interests to outings and trips
- Protect children and young people from risks to their health and welfare
- Provide emotional and practical support within the home
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of care plans and guidelines to ensure safety
- Support, overcome and help minimise incidents when behaviour can be challenging
Requirements:
- A desire to create positive outcomes for vulnerable children and young people
- Empathetic, caring and resilient nature
- At least 6 months’ experience working with children or within a similar social care setting
- Restraint training: restraint trained, or willing to undergo the 3-day course
- Valid UK driving licence (required)
- Hold a current Enhanced DBS on the update service, or be willing to obtain one
- Right to work in the UK
