Job Title: Relief/Temporary Support Worker – Children and Young People
Location: Merthyr, Wales, UK
Salary: Starting at £14.24 per hour (inclusive of holiday pay)

Job Description:
Are you passionate about making a positive impact on young lives? Our client, a leading specialist provider, is seeking compassionate and adaptable Relief/Temporary Support Workers to join their team in Merthyr. This role offers flexible working hours, allowing you to choose shifts that fit your schedule, making it ideal for students, parents, or those with other commitments. As a Relief Support Worker, you will gain valuable experience working across various settings, supporting children and young people in their daily activities and interests.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support children and young people in their daily routines and activities
  • Attend weekends away, holidays, and trips with the children
  • Support and promote the independence and wellbeing of young people
  • Attend weekend and evening activities, from climbing to baking or trips to Butlins
  • Protect children and young people from health and safety risks
  • Provide emotional and practical support to young people within your care
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of care plans and guidelines to ensure safety
  • Assist in managing challenging behaviour and minimise incidents effectively

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or within a social care environment (minimum 6 months)
  • Relationship-building skills and resilience in challenging situations
  • Understanding of trauma, homelessness, and domestic abuse impacts
  • Crisis response awareness and emotional resilience
  • Empathetic, caring, and resilient nature
  • TMVA - Restraint Training Certificate (or willingness to undergo training)
  • Valid UK driving licence
  • Current Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one
  • Right to work in the UK
