Job Title: Relief Support Worker – Children and Young People

Salary: Starting at £14.24 per hour (inclusive of holiday pay)

Our client, a leading specialist provider, is seeking compassionate and adaptable Relief Support Workers to join their team in Merthyr. As a Relief Support Worker, you will gain valuable experience working across various settings, supporting children and young people in their daily activities and interests.

Key Responsibilities:
As a Relief Support Worker based in Merthyr, your daily duties will include:

• Supporting children and young people in their daily routines and activities
• Attending weekends away, holidays, and trips with the children
• Supporting and promoting the independence and wellbeing of young people
• Attending weekend and evening activities, from climbing to baking or trips to Butlins
• Protecting children and young people from health and safety risks
• Providing emotional and practical support to young people within your care
• Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of care plans and guidelines to ensure safety
• Assisting in managing challenging behaviour and minimising incidents effectively

Requirements & Qualifications:
To be successful as a Relief Support Worker, you will need:

• Experience working with children or within a social care environment (minimum 6 months)
• Strong relationship-building skills and resilience in challenging situations
• Understanding of trauma, homelessness, and domestic abuse impacts
• Crisis response awareness and emotional resilience
• Empathetic, caring, and resilient nature
• TMVA - Restraint Training Certificate (or willingness to undergo training)
• Valid UK driving licence
• Current Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one
• Right to work in the UK
