Vetro Recruitment is currently recruiting for a Children’s Residential Support Worker to join a welcoming and therapeutic children’s residential home in South Wales. This role offers the opportunity to work within a nurturing environment that prioritises individual needs, personal development, and positive relationships. The home provides a safe, homely setting designed to support children and young people in feeling secure and valued.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Children’s Residential Support Worker based in South Wales, your daily duties will include:

Providing high-quality care and support to children and young people within a residential setting

Building positive, trusting, and consistent relationships with the children

Supporting children to understand and manage their emotions
-
Promoting positive behaviour through consistent and therapeutic approaches
-
Encouraging independence and developing essential life skills

Supporting children with their education, hobbies, and personal development
-
Planning and participating in activities both within the home and in the local community
-
Supporting outdoor play, learning, and recreational activities
-
Attending to the individual needs of each child and promoting their individuality

Maintaining accurate records and completing relevant documentation
-
Working closely with colleagues, families, social workers, and other professionals
-
Following safeguarding procedures and organisational policies at all times

Providing a safe, stable, and nurturing environment for every child
Requirements & Qualifications:
To be successful as a Children’s Residential Support Worker, you will need:

Previous experience working with children or young people (desirable within residential childcare, supported living, education, or care environments)

A patient, nurturing, and non-judgemental approach
-
The ability to build strong and appropriate professional relationships
-
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
-
The ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations

A good understanding of safeguarding procedures

A willingness to participate in activities and be actively involved in children’s lives

The ability to work as part of a team

A full UK driving licence (desirable)
