We are seeking dedicated and caring Residential Support Workers to join our clients team. In this rewarding role, you will play a vital part in the day-to-day care of our young people, providing support in activities, education, and important meetings related to their time in residential care.

Working as part of a committed and supportive team, you will ensure our homes are safe, welcoming, and maintained to a high standard, including contributing to cooking and cleaning tasks. Above all, you will be instrumental in safeguarding the welfare of our young people at all times.

As a Residential Support Worker, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing consistent and nurturing care that meets the physical, emotional, and social needs of our young people.
  • Being a positive role model for both colleagues and young people, 
  • Building positive and trusting relationships with young people to foster their sense of security.
  • Creating a safe, warm, and supportive living environment.
  • Encouraging the development of individual interests and positive attitudes.
  • Supporting the development of healthy lifestyles and positive social networks.
  • Organising and participating in a range of group activities and outings.
  • Assisting and supporting young people through the process of leaving care.
  • Encouraging and supporting young people to reach their full educational and vocational potential.
  • Observing and assessing behaviour in line with agreed protocols and in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Supervising day-to-day care practices to create a positive and accepting environment for personal development.
  • Contributing to the planning for admissions and discharges of young people.
  • Physically intervening in situations where a young person's behaviour poses a risk to themselves or others, in line with procedural guidance and legislation.
  • Following agreed procedures for reporting missing persons.
  • Collaborating with colleagues to develop, implement, and review individual care plans.
  • Attending and contributing to team meetings.
  • Liaising effectively with carers, social work staff, specialists, and other professional agencies.
  • Developing and maintaining positive professional relationships with families and external agencies.
  • Attending childcare reviews and other relevant meetings.
  • Providing support to less experienced staff as part of their induction.
  • Undertaking routine administrative tasks, including writing reports.
  • Maintaining accurate records for each young person.
  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness in both communal and individual areas.and assisting with meal preparation as required.
  • Carrying out household duties, including shopping, cleaning, and gardening, to ensure a safe environment.
  • Demonstrating sensitivity and appropriate assertiveness in a pressured environment.
  • Participating in a flexible shift pattern, including sleep-in duties and potential on-call responsibilities.
  • Being willing to work at other locations within the organisation as required.
  • Showing a commitment to ongoing professional development through training.
  • Undertaking manual handling duties as required.
