Job Title: Children’s Support Worker (2:1 Support)
Location: Cardiff, South Glamorgan, Wales
Salary: £13.68 - £28.40 (inclusive of holiday pay)
Job Description:
Do you want to enable children and young people who have been taken into care to have the best possible start in life? As a Children’s Support Worker in Cardiff, you’ll work 2:1 with other staff to support children with learning difficulties. This Children’s Support Worker role in Cardiff includes personal care and offers the chance to make a real, measurable difference every day.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support children and young people with day-to-day activities and interests as a Children’s Support Worker in Cardiff
- Promote independence and wellbeing for young people in your care
- Provide emotional and practical support within the home
- Attend weekends away, holidays and trips away with the children
- Support weekend and evening activities (e.g., climbing, baking, and outings)
- Protect children and young people from risks to their health and welfare
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of care plans and guidelines to ensure safety
- Support, overcome and help minimise incidents when behaviour can be challenging
Requirements:
- A desire to create positive outcomes for vulnerable children and young people
- Empathetic, caring and resilient nature
- At least 6 months’ experience working with children or in a similar social care setting
- Restraint trained, or willingness to undergo the 3-day course
- TMVA (Restraint Training Certificate)
- Valid UK driving licence
- Current Enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to obtain one
- Right to work in the UK
