Job Title: Support Worker – Young Persons
Location: Bridgend, Wales, UK
Salary: £14.24 - £24.48 per hour (including holiday pay)

Job Description:
Are you passionate about making a positive impact on young people's lives? A leading specialist provider is seeking dedicated Support Workers to join their team in Bridgend. This Support Worker role in Bridgend offers an exciting opportunity to support children and young adults facing challenges such as mental health issues, trauma, homelessness, and substance misuse. Working within a compassionate environment, you will provide tailored support to promote independence and wellbeing for young people in need.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Offer daily practical and emotional support to children and young people in Bridgend
  • Assist in fostering independence and wellbeing among young clients
  • Participate in weekend trips, holidays, and activities aligned with young people's interests
  • Attend evening and weekend activities, including outings like climbing or visits to leisure centres
  • Maintain safety and wellbeing by following care plans and safeguarding protocols
  • Support young people in managing challenging behaviours and minimise incidents
  • Promote a secure environment, ensuring health and safety standards are met
  • Attend training sessions such as restraint and behaviour management

Requirements:

  • Passion for supporting vulnerable young people and creating positive outcomes in Bridgend
  • Empathetic, caring, and resilient attitude
  • Minimum of 6 months' experience working with children or within social care settings
  • Valid UK Driving Licence
  • Restraint Training Certificate (or willingness to undertake a 3-day restraint training course)
  • Hold a current Enhanced DBS check, or be willing to obtain one
  • Right to work in the UK

Desirable:

  • Experience with behaviour management strategies
  • Qualifications such as NVQ Level 3 or 5 in Health & Social Care
