Job Title: Children’s Support Worker (Children Residential Services)
Location: Hirwaun, Wales, United Kingdom
Salary: £14.24–£28.48 per hour (inclusive of holiday pay)
Job Description:
Do you want to enable children and young people who have been taken into care to have the best possible start in life? As a Children’s Support Worker in Hirwaun, you’ll work on a 2:1 basis with other staff, supporting children in their homes. This Children’s Support Worker role in Hirwaun offers excellent rates, weekly pay, and the opportunity to make a real, measurable difference every day.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support children and young people with day-to-day activities and interests as a Children’s Support Worker in Hirwaun
- Promote independence and wellbeing, ensuring each young person’s needs are met
- Attend weekends away, holidays and trips with the children (as required)
- Support weekend and evening activities, from everyday interests to outings and trips
- Protect children and young people from risks to their health and welfare
- Provide emotional and practical support within the home
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of care plans and guidelines to support safety
- Support, overcome and help minimise incidents when behaviour can be challenging
Requirements:
- A desire to create positive outcomes for vulnerable children and young people
- Empathetic, caring and resilient nature
- At least 6 months’ experience working with children or in a similar social care setting
- Restraint training: either Restraint Trained or willing to undergo the 3-day course
- Valid UK driving licence (required)
- Hold a current Enhanced DBS on the update service, or be willing to obtain one
- Right to work in the UK
Working Hours (Children’s Support Worker, Hirwaun):
- 08:00–22:00 or 08:00–Sleep–08:00, or 10:00–23:00–Sleep–10:00
