Job Title: Children’s Support Worker (Residential)
Location: Merthyr Tydfil, Wales, United Kingdom
Salary: £14.24 –£27.36 inclusive of holiday pay (DOE)

Job Description:
Do you want to enable children and young people who have been taken into care to have the best possible start in life? As a Children’s Support Worker in Merthyr Tydfil, you’ll work 2:1 with other staff and support children in their homes. Key Responsibilities:

  • Support children and young people with day-to-day activities and interests as a Children’s Support Worker in Merthyr Tydfil
  • Promote independence and wellbeing, helping young people build confidence in everyday routines
  • Provide emotional and practical support within the home environment
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of care plans and guidelines to support safety and welfare
  • Support, overcome and help minimise incidents when behaviour can be challenging
  • Attend weekends away, holidays and trips, and join weekend/evening activities that reflect young people’s interests
  • Be willing to complete restraint training (or already be restraint trained) as required for the Children’s Support Worker role in Merthyr Tydfil

Requirements:

  • A desire to create positive outcomes for vulnerable children and young people
  • Empathetic, caring and resilient approach
  • At least 6 months’ experience working with children or in a similar social care setting
  • Valid UK driving licence (required for the Children’s Support Worker role in Merthyr Tydfil)
  • Restraint trained, or willing to undergo the 3-day course
  • Hold a current Enhanced DBS on the update service, or be willing to obtain one
  • Right to work in the UK
