Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated Deputy Manager to join a leading residential care provider in Slad, Gloucestershire. The property is a picturesque 2-bed rural cottage. This role offers an exciting opportunity to support the effective running of a children’s residential home, ensuring high standards of care and safeguarding. You will work closely with the Registered Manager to lead a team and deliver person-centred support to young people in a nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Deputy Manager based in Slad, your daily duties will include:
- Supporting the Registered Manager in delivering high-quality care to children and young people.
- Deputising and taking responsibility for the home’s operations in the absence of the Registered Manager.
- Safeguarding and promoting the welfare and development of young people through effective care planning.
- Overseeing staff rotas, supervising team performance, and supporting staff development.
- Developing and maintaining positive relationships with families, social workers, and external professionals.
- Ensuring compliance with all policies, procedures, and regulatory standards, including Ofsted requirements.
- Monitoring and reviewing care plans, risk assessments, and safeguarding procedures.
- Supporting the recruitment, induction, and ongoing training of staff members.
Requirements & Qualifications:
To be successful as a Deputy Manager in Slad, you will need:
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
- Working towards or willing to complete the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management.
- Significant experience (2+ years) in residential childcare, ideally in a senior or supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding, Children’s Homes Regulations, and Ofsted standards.
- Full UK driving licence and the ability to work shifts, including sleep-ins and weekends.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
