Job Description:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Deputy Children’s Home Manager (EBD) to join a leading specialist provider in Weston-super-Mare. This full-time, permanent role is ideal for a resilient and compassionate leader passionate about transforming the lives of young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD). The Deputy Children’s Home Manager will work closely with the Registered Manager to ensure the delivery of high-quality, child-centred care within a safe and therapeutic environment. Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Registered Manager in the daily operation of the children’s home in Weston-super-Mare.
- Lead shifts, manage staff rotas, and provide supervision and appraisals to support workers.
- Oversee the development and implementation of individualised care plans and risk assessments tailored to each child’s needs.
- Act as a safeguarding lead, ensuring all staff adhere to safeguarding protocols and promote the welfare of children.
- Ensure compliance with Ofsted Quality Standards and Children’s Homes Regulations (2015).
- Facilitate a trauma-informed environment, supporting children to manage emotional dysregulation through positive behaviour support and de-escalation techniques.
- Liaise with families, social workers, schools, and healthcare professionals to coordinate support for young people.
- Fully deputise for the Registered Manager in their absence, maintaining smooth operational management.
Requirements:
- Qualifications: Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
- Experience: At least 2 years working in a residential children’s home, with a minimum of 1 year in a senior or team leader role.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of EBD, trauma-informed care, and Ofsted frameworks.
- Resilience: Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
- Availability: Flexibility to work on a rota including evenings, weekends, and participate in an on-call system.
- Desirable: Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards it).
- Full UK Driving Licence (highly preferred for transporting children).
