Deputy Children’s Home Manager – Residential Care

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Deputy Manager to join a children's residential home in Ilford, London. This is a full-time, permanent position working 40 hours per week, including alternate weekends, supporting young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties.

You will play a vital role in the management team, ensuring high standards of care, upholding the rights of young people, and maintaining full compliance with all regulatory requirements.

Salary: £33,280 – £39,520 per year.


 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Safeguarding & Welfare: Ensure all issues relating to the safeguarding of vulnerable children are reported strictly according to policies and procedures.

  • Young Person Advocacy: Uphold and promote the rights of young people in accordance with the principles of choice, respect, dignity, and privacy.

  • Record Keeping: Ensure all records are meticulously maintained, and communicate any significant changes to young people’s needs to the Service Manager promptly.

  • Key Work & Reporting: Conduct formal key work sessions with allocated young people, producing detailed reports for each session.

  • Quality & Development: Promote young people's involvement in all areas, including service delivery, quality assurance, and organisational development.

  • Communication: Maintain effective written and verbal communication with internal colleagues and external bodies.


 

Required Skills and Experience

 

  • Qualification: NVQ Qualified (Minimum Level 3) in a social care related subject.

  • Experience: 2 years of experience working within Children's Residential Care.

  • Knowledge: Proven understanding of OFSTED Regulations and compliance requirements.

  • Insight: Able to demonstrate an understanding of social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties and how these may impact the lives of the young people that we support.

  • Essential Skills: Strong experience in Supervising, Management, and Leadership.

  • Licence: A valid Driving Licence is required.
