An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced leader to join a new Ofsted-registered children’s residential home in Colchester. This Deputy Children’s Home Manager role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact in a specialist service dedicated to supporting children with learning disabilities. The Deputy Children’s Home Manager will play a vital role in providing a safe, nurturing, and structured environment where young people can develop independence and thrive. Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Registered Manager in overseeing daily operations in line with Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and Ofsted standards.
- Lead on staff rotas, recruitment, inductions, and appraisals to ensure a motivated and well-supported team.
- Provide supervision and support to staff, fostering professional development.
- Ensure children’s health, emotional, cultural, and educational needs are met through person-centred care.
- Promote safeguarding best practices and ensure compliance with all safeguarding procedures.
- Support quality assurance processes, including care planning, risk assessments, and follow-up actions from Ofsted inspections.
- Collaborate with external professionals and internal teams, ensuring timely reporting of significant events.
- Participate in on-call duties outside of regular working hours to support the home’s operation.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Residential Childcare and 1 year in a supervisory role.
- Proven leadership skills, including managing staff rotas and deputising for a Registered Manager.
- Strong knowledge of Ofsted regulations, Quality Standards, and SCCIF.
- Excellent organizational and multi-agency communication skills.
- Level 4 qualification in Working with Young People or equivalent.
- Willingness to work towards a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management within an agreed timeframe.
- A valid Driving Licence is preferred.
