Job Title: Deputy Manager – Children’s Therapeutic Home (EBD)

Salary: £35,000 per year (up to £43,678 with package benefits)
Job Description:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and resilient Deputy Manager to join a highly-rated therapeutic children’s residential service in East London. This Deputy Manager role is ideal for an experienced professional seeking to lead a newly specified Ofsted-registered EBD children’s home. The Deputy Manager will play a vital role in ensuring high standards of care, supporting young people to achieve positive outcomes, and providing effective leadership within the team. Key Responsibilities:
- Assume day-to-day managerial oversight in the absence of the Registered Manager, ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards.
- Lead and motivate the staff team, acting as a positive role model and supporting the delivery of person-centred care.
- Ensure adherence to Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, Quality Care Standards, and SCCIF Guidelines.
- Promote safeguarding policies and procedures, ensuring full compliance and prompt reporting of incidents.
- Oversee care planning, risk assessments, and report writing to support young people's development and safety.
- Liaise professionally with social workers and external agencies to coordinate care and support.
- Participate in the shared on-call duty system, responding to emergencies as required.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 1 year’s experience as a Deputy Manager or Senior Shift Leader in an EBD children’s home.
- Proven leadership skills and experience managing staff teams in a residential care setting.
- Level 3 Diploma in Children’s Residential Service or equivalent qualification.
- Valid UK or international driving licence and confident driver.
- Strong knowledge of Children’s Homes Regulations, safeguarding, and behaviour management.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken.
- Resilient, motivated, and adaptable with excellent organisational skills.
- Must be 21 years of age or over.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of therapeutic approaches to childcare.
- Level 5 NVQ or Diploma in Leadership & Management in Residential Children’s Services or equivalent.
