Job Title: Deputy Children’s Home Manager – Specialist EBD Service

Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 per annum (dependent on experience) + £3.6k in bonuses
Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced and ambitious Deputy Children’s Home Manager to join the leadership team at our residential service in Ilford. This home provides high-quality, therapeutic care for young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD). Key Responsibilities:
- Deputy Children’s Home Manager leadership and shift management, including a balanced rota of 2 office days and 3 on-shift days
- Deputise for the Registered Manager in their absence, taking operational responsibility for the home and staff team
- Lead, coach and support residential support workers to deliver consistent, trauma-informed care across all shifts
- Participate in the management on-call rota (approximately once every 5 to 6 weeks)
- Support compliance with the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and Ofsted Quality Standards
- Oversee care planning, including individualized care plans, positive behaviour support plans, and risk assessments
- Assist with essential operational administration (rota planning, occupancy/referrals, and service audits)
- Champion safeguarding within the home, ensuring immediate action and thorough reporting of any notes of concern
- Build and maintain strong professional relationships with local authorities, social workers, families, and educational professionals
Requirements:
- NVQ/QCF Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
- Commitment to working towards a Level 5 Diploma if not already held
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a children’s residential setting, including at least 1 year in a senior or supervisory capacity
- Proven experience supporting young people with EBD and challenging behaviour
- Solid understanding of Ofsted inspection frameworks and safeguarding procedures
- Full UK driving licence highly preferred
- Strong communication skills for multi-agency meetings and regulatory reporting
- Emotional resilience, patience, and a child-centred approach
