Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 per annum (+ £3,600 bonuses, DOE)

Job Description:
We are recruiting a Deputy Children’s Home Manager to join a specialist residential service in Ilford, Greater London (Essex area). This is a therapeutic home supporting young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD), offering a structured hybrid pattern of 2 office days and 3 on-shift days each week.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Deputy Children’s Home Manager based in Ilford, your daily duties will include:
- Deputising for the Registered Manager, providing operational leadership and management cover across the home.
- Leading, coaching, and mentoring residential support staff to deliver consistent, trauma-informed care on shift.
- Supporting compliance with Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and Ofsted Quality Standards, including audits and service improvement actions.
- Overseeing care planning, including care plans, positive behaviour support plans, and robust risk assessments.
- Managing key operational tasks such as rota planning, occupancy/referrals, and high-quality documentation.
- Championing safeguarding practice, ensuring concerns are acted on immediately and recorded appropriately.
- Building effective relationships with local authorities, social workers, families, and education professionals.
- Participating in the management on-call rota approximately once every 5 to 6 weeks.
Requirements & Qualifications:
To be successful as a Deputy Children’s Home Manager, you will need:
- NVQ/QCF Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) and commitment to work towards Level 5 if not already held.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a children’s residential setting, including at least 1 year in a senior/supervisory role.
- Proven experience supporting young people with EBD and challenging behaviour.
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding and Ofsted inspection frameworks.
- Full UK Driving Licence (highly preferred).
