Job Description:
Our client, a leading provider of therapeutic residential care, is seeking a dedicated Deputy Manager to join their team in Cheltenham. This role offers a unique opportunity to work within a progressive, trauma-informed environment that prioritises bespoke, emotionally warm care for young people with learning difficulties and behavioural challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Deputy Manager based in Cheltenham, your daily duties will include:
- Assisting the Home Manager in the effective management, co-ordination, and development of therapeutic services for young people.
- Ensuring the home exceeds all standards outlined in the Children’s Home Regulations 2015 and relevant legislation.
- Promoting strong, empathetic relationships with children, families, and external professionals to meet individual needs.
- Providing dynamic leadership to the staff team, ensuring policies and procedures are implemented effectively.
- Supporting team development through supervision, reflective practice, and promoting staff wellbeing initiatives.
- Overseeing accurate and reflective paperwork, including Care Plans, Risk Assessments, and Behaviour Support Plans.
- Ensuring compliance with all Health and Safety regulations and managing budgets and administrative records.
Requirements & Qualifications:
To be successful as a Deputy Manager, you will need:
- A Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent.
- Minimum of one year’s experience in residential children’s social care, ideally in a senior support worker role.
- An understanding of Trauma-Informed Care and therapeutic approaches, with a willingness to develop knowledge of PACE and related models.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a nurturing approach.
- A UK Driving Licence.
- Confidence in working within the framework of the Children’s Home Regulations and legislation.
- A clear DBS check and positive references from previous roles working with children or vulnerable adults.
