Job Description
Children’s Home Deputy Manager opportunity with our client in Chippenham, Wiltshire. This is a rare chance to join a progressive, trauma-informed residential setting operating with Therapeutic Community values, supporting young people with learning difficulties and emotional and behavioural needs.
You’ll work within a five-bed home, helping to deliver safe, nurturing, relationship-led care while supporting the Registered Manager with day-to-day leadership.
Key Responsibilities
As a Children’s Home Deputy Manager based in Chippenham, your daily duties will include:
- Supporting the Registered Manager with the operational running of a five-bed children’s home in Chippenham, Wiltshire, ensuring safeguarding and high-quality care at all times
- Leading, supervising, mentoring, and developing staff, promoting reflective practice and trauma-informed approaches across the team
- Ensuring compliance with Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and relevant legislation, maintaining strong standards across audits, records, and practice
- Producing and maintaining accurate documentation, including Care Plans, Risk Assessments, and Behaviour Support Plans
- Promoting staff wellbeing initiatives and helping build a stable, supportive culture that recognises the impact of vicarious trauma
Requirements & Qualifications
To be successful as a Children’s Home Deputy Manager, you will need:
- NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (essential)
- Minimum 1 year’s experience in Residential Children’s Social Care (ideally as a Senior Support Worker or similar)
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed care (PACE knowledge advantageous, or willingness to learn)
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Enhanced DBS (clear) and positive references covering work with children and/or vulnerable adults
- Confidence with leadership, boundaries, mentoring, and managing challenging situations in a nurturing, non-consequential way
