Job Title: Deputy Manager – Residential Children’s Home

Salary: Up to £38,600 per annum, DOE
Job Description:
Our client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Manager for a Residential Children’s Home in Cheltenham. The Deputy Manager – Residential Children’s Home will play a vital role in supporting the Home Manager to deliver high-quality, trauma-informed care within a therapeutic community setting. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate leader with a strong background in residential children’s social care to make a meaningful difference in young people’s lives.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Deputy Manager – Residential Children’s Home, your key duties will include:
- Assisting the Home Manager with the day-to-day operational management of the home
- Ensuring safeguarding, supervision, and mentorship of all children and staff
- Managing team members effectively to promote a positive, nurturing environment
- Building and maintaining strong, empathetic relationships with young people, their families, and external agencies in line with therapeutic community values
- Supporting the implementation of therapeutic and strength-based care approaches
- Contributing to staff development and training, including opportunities to complete an NVQ Level 5
Requirements:
- Minimum of one year’s experience in residential children’s social care, ideally as a Senior Support Worker
- Strong understanding of Trauma-Informed Care and therapeutic practices
- Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent
- Valid UK Driving Licence
- Knowledge of The Children’s Home Regulations and relevant legislation
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle challenging situations with confidence and compassion
- Clear DBS check and positive references from previous roles working with children or vulnerable adults
- Willingness to learn and develop further, with an interest in therapeutic placement models such as PACE
