Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Manager to join a leading specialist provider in residential childcare. The Deputy Manager will support the Registered Manager in delivering high-quality care to children and young people, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and empowering environment. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a committed professional to make a positive impact on young lives within a supportive and values-driven organisation. The Deputy Manager in this role will be based in [City], [County], and will be responsible for maintaining standards, safeguarding, and leading a team of dedicated staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Registered Manager in the effective running of the residential home.
  • Deputise for the Registered Manager during their absence, including holiday cover.
  • Safeguard and promote the welfare and development of the young people, ensuring care plans are implemented and reviewed regularly.
  • Oversee the development and monitoring of individual care plans and case files.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with families, social workers, schools, and other professionals.
  • Lead shift planning to ensure the safety and engagement of young people throughout the day.
  • Ensure all policies, procedures, and risk assessments are followed consistently.
  • Support staff training and development, including supervision and appraisals.
  • Contribute to recruitment, induction, and ongoing staff development.
  • Maintain compliance with all safeguarding procedures, Children’s Homes Regulations, and Ofsted standards.
  • Support a positive team culture, promoting reflective practice and continuous improvement.

Requirements:

  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
  • Working towards or willing to complete Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management.
  • Significant experience in residential childcare (ideally 2–3+ years).
  • Experience in a senior supervisory role within social care or residential childcare.
  • Sound knowledge of safeguarding, Children’s Homes Regulations, and Ofsted expectations.
  • Ability to work shifts, including sleep-ins and weekends.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience as a Deputy Manager in residential childcare or social care.
  • Relevant qualifications in social care or child development.
