Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Manager to join a leading specialist provider in residential childcare. The Deputy Manager will support the Registered Manager in delivering high-quality care to children and young people, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and empowering environment. Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Registered Manager in the effective running of the residential home.
- Deputise for the Registered Manager during their absence, including holiday cover.
- Safeguard and promote the welfare and development of the young people, ensuring care plans are implemented and reviewed regularly.
- Oversee the development and monitoring of individual care plans and case files.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with families, social workers, schools, and other professionals.
- Lead shift planning to ensure the safety and engagement of young people throughout the day.
- Ensure all policies, procedures, and risk assessments are followed consistently.
- Support staff training and development, including supervision and appraisals.
- Contribute to recruitment, induction, and ongoing staff development.
- Maintain compliance with all safeguarding procedures, Children’s Homes Regulations, and Ofsted standards.
- Support a positive team culture, promoting reflective practice and continuous improvement.
Requirements:
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
- Working towards or willing to complete Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management.
- Significant experience in residential childcare (ideally 2–3+ years).
- Experience in a senior supervisory role within social care or residential childcare.
- Sound knowledge of safeguarding, Children’s Homes Regulations, and Ofsted expectations.
- Ability to work shifts, including sleep-ins and weekends.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable:
- Previous experience as a Deputy Manager in residential childcare or social care.
- Relevant qualifications in social care or child development.
