Deputy Children’s Home Manager – Therapeutic Care (EBD)

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and highly driven Deputy Children's Home Manager to join a therapeutic residential service. This is a crucial leadership role, supporting the Registered Manager in delivering exceptional care and strategic planning for young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD) and complex needs.

This is a full-time, 39-hour-per-week position involving a mix of direct care shifts and office days.

Salary: Starting from £33,664 per annum, plus generous additional payments for required sleep-in duties.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational Management: Assist the Registered Manager in all day-to-day management matters, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care services in line with standards.

  • Strategic Leadership: Contribute to the strategic planning and development of the home, focusing on obtaining the best possible outcomes for each young person.

  • Team Leadership & Mentoring: Be responsible for the supervision and mentoring of staff, the organisation of work patterns, and the facilitation of care-focused training.

  • Therapeutic Support: Lead the team in providing the necessary therapeutic care and support for each child, acting as a positive role model.

  • Compliance: Maintain detailed knowledge of Ofsted legislation and safeguarding procedures.

  • Administration: Management of administrative tasks, including budgets and staff rotas.

 

Required Skills and Experience

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience working within a Children’s Residential Care setting.

  • A minimum of NVQ Level 3 in Children and Young People, or a Health and Social Care Level 5 qualification is highly desirable.

  • A strong people manager with a highly driven, proactive, and enthusiastic approach.

  • Proven experience in managing budgets and creating staff rotas.

  • A Full Driving Licence is essential.

  • Ability to work flexibly, covering both shifts and sleep-in duties as required.
