Job Description:
An exciting and rare opportunity has arisen for a dedicated Deputy Manager to join a leading specialist provider of children’s residential care in Hereford. This vital role supports the Registered Manager in delivering high-quality, therapeutic care for children in a dual-registration home, focusing on safeguarding and enhancing life chances for Looked After Children.
As Deputy Manager, you will be instrumental in fostering a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment where young people feel valued, listened to, and empowered to reach their full potential. You will promote consistency across the homes and ensure compliance with all regulatory standards, including Ofsted, demonstrating your commitment to safeguarding and excellent care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support and assist the Registered Manager in day-to-day operations of the residential service
- Encourage young people to participate in activities and develop responsibility according to their age and needs
- Maintain a warm, homely, and friendly environment within the homes
- Handle challenging behaviors with sensitivity and professionalism
- Provide personal care when required, promoting independence and well-being
- Ensure the safety and security of all service users, adhering to safeguarding policies
- Keep up-to-date with individual care plans, guidelines, reward systems, and communication preferences
- Support young people in managing difficult behaviors safely and empathetically
- Promote a positive, stable, and therapeutic environment aligned with company values
Candidate Requirements:
- Minimum of 6 months experience working in a similar children’s residential setting (desirable)
- NVQ or QCF Level 3 in Adult Social Care (essential)
- Passionate about supporting young people and making a positive difference
- Must hold a valid driver’s license for site travel as required
- Over 18 years of age
- Strong ability to deliver an integrated, person-centered approach to care, especially for those with complex needs
