Job Title: Children's Home Deputy Care Manager
Location: Glynneath, Wales, UK
Hours: Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm
Salary: £33,960.60 per annum (DOE)
Job Description:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Deputy Care Manager to join a dedicated team within a children’s residential home in Glynneath. This role offers a flexible work schedule, primarily Monday to Friday, with some flexibility to support a healthy work/life balance. The Deputy Manager will support up to four young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties, providing a nurturing and secure environment where they can thrive. Key Responsibilities:
- Support the registered manager in the day-to-day running of the home, ensuring compliance with all regulations and organisational policies.
- Deputise in the manager’s absence, supporting staff and caring for the young people.
- Assist in maintaining a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment for children and young people.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of care plans tailored to individual needs.
- Support staff training and development to ensure high standards of care.
Requirements:
- QCF/NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent (essential).
- Previous experience as a Deputy Manager or Shift Leader within a residential setting.
- Full UK manual driving licence.
- Minimum age of 22.
- Passion for making a difference in young people's lives.
- Strong communication skills with internal and external agencies.
- Ability to remain calm and patient under pressure.
- Basic IT skills.
- Flexibility in working hours.
- Knowledge of statutory requirements, health & safety, and risk assessments.
Desirable:
- Level 4 qualification in Health & Social Care or equivalent.
- Registration with Social Care Wales (or willing to register within six months).
- Experience working with children in residential care.
- Welsh speaker.
