Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated Deputy Care Manager to join our children’s home in Glynneath, supporting up to four young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties. This role offers a flexible work schedule, primarily Monday to Friday, with some flexibility to promote a healthy work/life balance. The successful candidate will work within a supportive environment that prioritises nurturing, safety, and therapeutic care.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Deputy Care Manager based in Glynneath, your daily duties will include:
- Supporting the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of the home, ensuring compliance with regulations and organisational policies.
- Deputising in the manager’s absence and providing leadership to staff members.
- Supporting and supervising staff to deliver high-quality care to young people.
- Contributing to the development and implementation of care plans tailored to individual needs.
- Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of children and young people through risk assessments and health & safety procedures.
Requirements & Qualifications:
To be successful as a Deputy Care Manager, you will need:
- Essential: QCF/NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent.
- Required Experience: Previous experience as a Deputy Manager or Shift Leader within a residential setting.
- Mandatory Compliance: Full UK manual driving licence.
- Additional Skills: Strong communication skills, ability to remain calm under pressure, basic IT skills, and flexibility in working hours.
- Desirable: Level 4 qualification in Health & Social Care, experience working with children, and Welsh language skills.
- Knowledge: Understanding of statutory requirements, health & safety, and risk assessments.
