Job Description:
Our client, a leading organisation in domestic abuse support services, is seeking a dedicated Domestic Abuse Housing Support Worker to join their team in Newport. This role involves providing vital advice and assistance to individuals experiencing domestic abuse, with a focus on enabling them to remain safely within their own homes or access appropriate refuge or temporary accommodation when necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Domestic Abuse Housing Support Worker based in Newport, your daily duties will include:
- Working in partnership with the local housing team to identify and support individuals at risk of homelessness due to domestic abuse.
- Conducting risk assessments and developing tailored safety plans in line with organisational policies.
- Providing immediate safety advice and working with multi-agency partners to meet urgent needs.
- Liaising with landlords, refuge providers, police, social services, and legal agencies to secure safe housing and safety measures.
- Maintaining accurate case notes and updating electronic case management systems, such as Log My Care and CIVICA.
- Supporting clients to make informed decisions about their housing and safety options.
- Participating in team meetings, supervision, and ongoing training to develop skills and knowledge.
Requirements & Qualifications:
To be successful as a Domestic Abuse Housing Support Worker, you will need:
- At least 2 years’ experience working with individuals affected by domestic abuse.
- Knowledge of housing-related services and wider VAWDASV (Violence Against Women, Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence) risks.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multi-agency environment.
- Ability to undertake risk assessments and develop safety plans.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
- Mandatory compliance with DBS checks (enhanced) and GDPR policies.
