We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Domestic Abuse Peripatetic Support Worker to join a leading specialist provider in Newport. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting women and families affected by domestic abuse, helping them maintain their tenancies and rebuild their lives. The Domestic Abuse Support Worker will work across various locations in Newport, providing tailored support and working closely with multi-agency teams to ensure families receive the appropriate assistance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support families across Newport affected by domestic abuse, assisting them in maintaining their tenancies.
- Conduct needs assessments and risk assessments, including safety planning and DASH risk indicators.
- Liaise with multi-agency teams, including social services, police, and housing providers, to deliver timely support.
- Support families in accessing alternative accommodation if necessary.
- Participate in on-call rota and contribute to case management and monitoring using electronic database systems.
- Work within the Supporting People Gateway framework, ensuring appropriate referrals and case management.
- Promote community engagement and help families build informal support networks.
- Support families to improve home security and liaise with Target Hardening Schemes and relevant agencies.
- Ensure all support notes and documentation are completed accurately and in line with organisational policies.
- Contribute to team meetings, supervision, and ongoing professional development.
Requirements:
- Proven experience working with families affected by domestic abuse.
- Strong support and safety planning skills, with experience working in partnership with statutory and voluntary agencies.
- Ability to assess and respond to static and dynamic risks effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with proficiency in database systems, MS Word, and Outlook.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing priorities effectively.
- Knowledge of social legislation and welfare rights is desirable.
- Ability to speak Welsh is a plus.
