Job Description:
Our client, a leading organisation supporting women and families affected by domestic abuse, is seeking a dedicated Domestic Abuse Peripatetic Support Worker to join their team in Newport. This role involves providing vital support to families across Newport who are experiencing housing-related challenges due to domestic abuse, within a community-focused setting.

Key Responsibilities:
As a Domestic Abuse Peripatetic Support Worker based in Newport, your daily duties will include:

  • Supporting families across Newport affected by domestic abuse to maintain or access suitable housing.
  • Conducting needs and risk assessments, including safety planning and DASH risk indicators, in accordance with organisational policies.
  • Liaising with multi-agency teams, including social services, police, and housing providers, to deliver holistic support.
  • Developing and implementing safety plans and risk management strategies to prevent tenancy breakdowns.
  • Supporting families to access alternative accommodation if necessary, ensuring their safety and wellbeing.
  • Maintaining accurate case notes and monitoring progress using electronic case management systems.
  • Participating in on-call rotas to provide support outside of standard hours.
  • Building informal community support networks to promote sustainable living within the community.

Requirements & Qualifications:
To be successful as a Domestic Abuse Peripatetic Support Worker, you will need:

  • Experience working with families affected by domestic abuse or in a community support setting.
  • Knowledge of safety and support planning, risk assessments, and multi-agency collaboration.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle, as the role involves travel across Newport.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo).
  • Desirable: IDVA qualification or equivalent, Welsh language skills, and experience working within a psychologically informed framework.
