Domestic Abuse Peripatetic Support Worker
Location: Newport (NP20)
Salary: £26,000 – £28,000 per annum
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Our client, a leading organisation supporting women and families affected by domestic abuse, is looking for a Domestic Abuse Peripatetic Support Worker to join their service in Newport. This is a rewarding community-based role supporting women and families who have housing-related support needs as a result of domestic abuse, helping them to maintain tenancies, improve safety, and access the right services.
The role
You’ll work flexibly across Newport (peripatetic delivery), completing needs and risk assessments, coordinating multi-agency support, and helping individuals and families move forward safely and sustainably.
Key responsibilities
- Provide practical and emotional support to women and families affected by domestic abuse across Newport
- Complete support needs assessments and deliver tailored support plans
- Undertake risk assessments and safety planning (including DASH where required)
- Liaise with partner agencies (Police, Social Services, Housing, etc.) to provide coordinated support
- Support tenancy sustainment and help prevent tenancy breakdown
- Assist with move-on / alternative accommodation where required
- Maintain accurate case notes, monitoring, and database updates in line with policy
- Participate in the on-call rota as required
What you’ll need
- Experience supporting women/families affected by domestic abuse (or closely related support work)
- Confidence completing risk assessments and support planning in a safeguarding context
- Strong partnership working skills across statutory and voluntary services
- Excellent communication skills and good IT skills (case management/database use)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable:
- IDVA qualification (or equivalent)
- Welsh language skills
- Experience working within a psychologically informed framework
