We have an exciting opportunity for a compassionate and motivated Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) to work on a permanent basis within a Client’s Domestic Violence Advisor Schemes in Cardiff.

You will be required to be a driver due to the floating support aspect of the role whereby you will be providing emotional and practical support to men, women and children within their homes or support accomodation who have suffered or are at risk of harm from intimate partners, ex-partners or family members to secure their safety and the safety of their children.

  • Independent Domestic Violence Advisor 

  • Location: Cardiff

  • Hours: Full time (35hours per week)

  • Salary: £14.00 per hour

You will serve as a victim’s primary point of contact by working with their clients from the point of crisis to assess the level of risk, discuss the range of suitable options and develop safety plans.

Skills and experience for the role:

  • Ideally you will have crisis management skills and the ability to deal with stressful and difficult situations

  • Experience of managing a diverse caseload of clients

  • Have a good understanding of domestic violence

  • It is desirable that you will have a ‘SafeLives IDVA training certificate’, or a relevant degree

  • A sound understanding of child protection issues and how to respond to effectively safeguard
