This is a unique opportunity to lead two services from the ground up, shaping the culture, team, and delivery of exceptional, life-changing care.

Contract Type Permanent, Full-Time
Service Type 2 x 2-Bed EBD Children's Homes (5 miles apart)

The Role & Service Overview

You will be the Registered Manager for both small, 2-bedroom homes, taking full responsibility for the day-to-day operations, strategic management, and the welfare of four young people. One home is fully registered (opened in August with no inspection), and the second is currently completing its registration process.

Your immediate focus will be to embed a supportive, structured environment, achieve compliance with the Children's Homes Regulations 2015 and the Quality Standards, and prepare both services for their first Ofsted inspection with the goal of securing "Good" or "Outstanding" ratings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Regulatory Leadership: Achieve and maintain your registration with Ofsted as the Registered Manager for both homes, ensuring full statutory compliance and excellent quality outcomes.

  • Service Development: Lead the final set-up of the new service, including staff onboarding, policy implementation, and welcoming new residents.

  • Safeguarding & Welfare: Act as the lead for Safeguarding and risk management, creating a safe, consistent, and therapeutic environment for young people with EBD.

  • Team Management: Recruit, lead, and mentor two committed staff teams, ensuring high standards of training, supervision, and professional practice are maintained across both sites.

  • Operational Excellence: Oversee budgets, rota management, and all administrative tasks related to the effective running of the homes.

Essential Requirements

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent qualification).

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience as a Registered Manager within a Children's Residential EBD setting.

  • Proven track record of successfully managing and achieving positive outcomes during Ofsted inspections.

  • Expert-level knowledge of the Children's Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards.

  • Demonstrable ability to manage multiple priorities and services effectively, with excellent time management skills.

  • A Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle are essential for travelling between the two local homes.

Her support made a real difference, and we truly appreciated her efforts.

We were initially contacted directly by Kerry from Vetro regarding a potential Registered Home Manager she was working with. I spoke with Kerry to discuss the role, our requirements, and the candidate she had in mind.

Highly recommend Vetro...would never consider another agency and that is down to Kerry.

I have previously worked with Kerry, and after letting her know I was looking for work again, it took her less than 2 days to come back with what I asked for. Not only that, she made sure I was prepared for the interview and checked in before and after, she did go above and beyond like previous, with a personal touch.

Honestly, you've been amazing.

You don't just get the roles we need, you get me, how I work, what kind of personalities click with me, and who's going to fit in with our wider team. That makes such a difference, especially at senior level.

Kerry was very friendly and easy to talk too.

I found her approach was very confidential and she respected my privacy of when to contact me and when I wouldn't be available. I appreciated her honest and transparent approach when applying for jobs in giving recommendations, and felt she remained professional at all times.
