Job Description:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly experienced and dedicated Dual-Registered Ofsted Service Manager to lead two adjacent residential children’s homes in Central London. This role offers a unique chance to oversee two well-established EBD services, both rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted, with the potential to drive continuous improvement towards ‘Outstanding’. The successful candidate will provide hands-on leadership across both homes, ensuring high standards of care, compliance, and positive outcomes for young people aged 8–17.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the Registered Manager for both 4-bed homes, maintaining legal accountability under the Care Standards Act 2000.
- Lead the strategic development of the services, implementing trauma-informed and therapeutic care practices.
- Drive the homes’ journey from ‘Good’ to ‘Outstanding’ by fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.
- Ensure strict adherence to the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards.
- Oversee Regulation 44 and 45 reporting, audits, and inspections, acting as the primary contact for Ofsted.
- Manage and support two Deputy Managers, ensuring effective delegation and professional development.
- Oversee recruitment, retention, and supervision of approximately 20–25 staff members across both sites.
- Manage the combined budget, optimising resources across the two homes.
- Oversee referral and matching processes to ensure placement stability and positive environments.
- Liaise with Local Authorities, social workers, and families to deliver bespoke care plans.
- Champion the voice of the child, ensuring their safety, well-being, and high aspirations.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Registered Manager in an EBD setting with proven ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted ratings.
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
- Exceptional organisational skills to manage two registrations simultaneously.
- Deep understanding of therapeutic care models such as PACE and Trauma-Informed Care.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
The Reward Package:
- Basic salary of £72,000 per annum.
- Bonus scheme of up to £15,600 based on Ofsted ratings, KPIs, and compliance targets.
- The adjacent location of the homes offers a significant logistical advantage, allowing the manager to oversee both services in just five minutes on foot.
- Additional benefits include private healthcare, enhanced pension, a laptop and phone, and 33 days holiday.
