Salary: £23,337 - £25,632 per annum (term-time only, dependent on experience) + £1,000 retention bonus
Employment Type: Part-time, Permanent (Term-time only) – 36 hours per week (including 5 INSET days)
Job Description
The Graduate Therapy Assistant role is a hands-on opportunity to build practical experience in a specialist education setting in Cranleigh, Surrey. Working within a multidisciplinary therapy team, you’ll support young people with complex learning disabilities, autism and communication needs, helping you prepare for future training in Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, or related pathways.
Key Responsibilities
As a Graduate Therapy Assistant based in Cranleigh, your daily duties will include:
- Supporting individual and group therapeutic activities under the guidance of qualified therapists and teaching staff
- Working directly in classroom environments to help deliver embedded therapeutic interventions alongside teachers and therapists in Cranleigh
- Supporting communication development, including AAC (e.g., iPads, Makaton, visual supports) for students who may be non-verbal
- Helping maintain a consistent, structured and supportive learning environment for learners with additional needs
Requirements & Qualifications
To be successful as a Graduate Therapy Assistant, you will need:
- A degree (or near completion) in Psychology, Health & Social Care, Education, or a related field
- A genuine interest in progressing towards Occupational Therapy, Speech & Language Therapy, or similar careers
- The resilience, empathy and patience to work in a rewarding but challenging specialist setting
- Enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references (safer recruitment requirements)
- Right to work in the UK (please note: no sponsorship available)
