Role Overview:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our dedicated team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting the class teacher and ensuring that all pupils, including those with additional learning needs, receive an outstanding education. You will work across the Foundation Phase and Key Stage 2.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and deliver pre-planned lessons effectively in the absence of the class teacher, ensuring continuity of learning.

  • Collaborate with the class teacher to plan, prepare, and deliver engaging learning activities and resources.

  • Provide targeted support to students, individually or in small groups, to facilitate their engagement and progress.

  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes excellent behaviour and respect for all.

  • Deliver tailored support to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Additional Learning Needs (ALN), implementing appropriate strategies to maximize their learning.

  • Monitor student progress, provide constructive feedback to the class teacher, and contribute to the overall assessment process.

  • Support students' social and emotional development, promoting positive behaviour, effective communication, and resilience.

The Ideal Candidate:

We are looking for an individual who:

  • Has proven experience as an HLTA in a primary school setting, demonstrating a strong understanding of classroom management and child development.

  • Holds a Level 4 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent) or possesses substantial and relevant experience in an HLTA role.

  • Demonstrates a patient, adaptable, and proactive approach to working with children of diverse abilities and needs.

  • Is skilled in supporting students with SEN/ALN, with experience in implementing strategies to promote inclusion and engagement.

  • Is a collaborative team player with excellent communication skills, able to build positive relationships with teachers, support staff, and parents.

  • Is committed to ongoing professional development and a desire to enhance teaching and learning practices.

Essential Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 months of recent experience as an HLTA in a primary school setting.

  • Level 4 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent) or significant, demonstrable experience.

  • A current, fully enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one).

  • Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) as a school learning support worker.

  • A strong understanding of classroom management techniques and differentiation strategies to meet the diverse needs of learners.

  • The right to work in the UK.
