Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and resilient Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our dedicated team. This unique role combines classroom-based teaching support with practical, work-related learning (WRL) experiences for students with complex learning disabilities and social communication needs.

Your week will be split to provide a variety of support:

  • 3 Days: Supporting the Work-Related Learning Team with internal and external vocational experiences.

  • 2 Days: Working as an HLTA within classrooms, delivering learning and mentoring Teaching Assistants.

Actual Salary:

  • Qualified: £27,715 - £30,677

  • Unqualified: £23,999 - £26,603 (training provided)


Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Educational Delivery: Deliver planned learning activities and contribute to lesson preparation alongside class teachers to ensure high-quality educational outcomes.

  • Vocational Support: Guide students through functional, motivational, and meaningful work experiences designed to build life skills and independence.

  • Mentoring: Act as a key point of support and mentorship for Teaching Assistants within the classroom.

  • Student Well-being: Support students aged 5-19 with severe social communication and behavioural needs, providing boundaries, choices, and personal care where required to ensure their comfort and dignity.

  • Safety: Implement safe and effective physical intervention (Team Teach) when necessary to support students with complex needs.


Essential Requirements

  • Licence & Age: You must be over 25 years of age and have held a full, valid driving licence for at least 2 years. You must be willing to pass a minibus driver's assessment.

  • Resilience: Exceptional mental, emotional, and physical resilience is required to support students with complex and sometimes challenging behaviours.

  • Transport: Own transport is highly desirable due to the semi-rural, 23-acre site location.

  • Right to Work: Please note, we do not provide visa sponsorship or visa conversions at this time.
