Job Description:
A leading specialist provider is seeking an experienced and resilient Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their dedicated team in Cranleigh, Surrey. This is a unique opportunity for a committed professional to support students with complex learning disabilities and social communication needs. The role combines classroom-based teaching support with practical work-related learning experiences, offering a diverse and rewarding environment. The successful candidate will play a vital role in delivering high-quality education, mentoring fellow support staff, and supporting students’ personal development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver planned learning activities and assist in lesson preparation alongside class teachers to ensure educational excellence.
- Support students through functional, motivational, and meaningful work experiences aimed at building independence and life skills.
- Act as a mentor and support for Teaching Assistants within the classroom setting.
- Support students aged 5-19 with severe social communication and behavioural needs, ensuring their comfort, dignity, and safety.
- Implement safe physical intervention techniques (Team Teach) when necessary to support students with complex needs.
Requirements:
- Over 25 years of age with a full, valid driving licence for at least 2 years.
- Willingness to pass a minibus driver’s assessment.
- Exceptional resilience—mental, emotional, and physical—to support students with challenging behaviours.
- Own transport is highly desirable due to the semi-rural location.
- Right to work in the UK; no visa sponsorship available.
