Job Description
Housing Support Worker opportunities are available in Newport, Newport, supporting adults within a specialist supported housing setting. This role focuses on helping individuals experiencing homelessness, mental health challenges and/or recovery from substance misuse to maintain stability in a safe, structured environment. You’ll join a supportive team where your work has clear, day-to-day impact.

Key Responsibilities
As a Housing Support Worker based in Newport, your daily duties will include:

  • Supporting residents to follow house rules, maintain safety, and contribute to a positive shared living environment.
  • Providing practical and emotional support using a person-centred approach, including signposting to relevant services.
  • Monitoring wellbeing, following safeguarding and health & safety procedures, and accurately recording and escalating concerns when required.

Requirements & Qualifications
To be successful as a Housing Support Worker, you will need:

  • A person-centred, empathetic approach with strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Relevant experience within social care, supported housing, homelessness services, or a similar setting (desirable).
  • Enhanced DBS Check and a clear commitment to safeguarding (required); NVQ Level 3 or 5 in Health & Social Care (desirable).
