Job Description:
Are you an experienced teaching assistant, support worker, or HLTA seeking a specialized role in behavioral support? A leading specialist provider is looking for a dedicated Inclusion Support Mentor to join their in-house Inclusion Team in Cranleigh, Surrey. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work with students aged 5-19 who have complex social communication needs, learning disabilities, and autism. As an Inclusion Support Mentor, you will play a vital role in fostering an inclusive environment by implementing positive behavior strategies and mentoring staff. This role is ideal for those passionate about making a difference in SEN education and looking to develop their skills further.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement and model evidence-based Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) strategies to promote student inclusion and reduce challenging behaviors.
- Train and mentor colleagues in PBS techniques and Team Teach through role-modelling, co-coaching, and formal training sessions.
- Manage your own class caseload, creating and implementing individual Behaviour Support Plans and Risk Assessments.
- Monitor and analyze behavior data to identify trends and inform best practices across the setting.
- Collaborate closely with in-house therapy teams and CAMHS professionals to support student well-being.
- Assist during assessment days for prospective students.
- Maintain high standards of incident reporting and documentation.
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a TA, STA, or HLTA, ideally within an SEN or inclusion setting.
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools, or willingness to work towards this qualification.
- Strong resilience—mentally, physically, and emotionally—to manage dynamic environments.
- A positive, proactive attitude with flexibility and adaptability.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
