Job Title: Lead Speech and Language Therapist – Multi-site Role
Location: West Wales
Salary: £32,799.30 – £37,927.85 (dependent on experience)
Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Lead Speech and Language Therapist to join a leading specialist provider on a 12-month fixed-term basis. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact across multiple settings, supporting children and young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other complex needs. As the Lead Speech and Language Therapist, you will provide clinical leadership, mentorship, and strategic development of therapy services, ensuring high-quality, person-centred care. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated professional to lead innovative practices and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide guidance, mentoring, and clinical leadership to a team of Speech and Language Therapists and practitioners across various schools and residential settings.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop evidence-based therapy plans for communication, eating, drinking, and swallowing needs.
- Collaborate closely with education, residential, clinical colleagues, families, and external stakeholders to deliver integrated, person-centred care.
- Drive service development by promoting best practices, contributing to policy, training, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Monitor and evaluate therapy outcomes, adjusting interventions to ensure measurable progress.
- Deliver internal training on communication strategies, AAC, and supporting individuals with complex needs.
- Provide specialist input on dysphagia management and AAC tools to promote inclusive communication.
Requirements:
- HCPC registration and a recognised degree/diploma in Speech and Language Therapy.
- Proven post-qualification experience working with children and young people with ASD and complex needs.
- Experience supervising or mentoring SLTs or readiness to assume a lead role.
- Strong understanding of SEND frameworks and multi-agency collaboration.
- Ability to work flexibly across multiple locations and manage a varied caseload.
- Training or experience in PECS, Makaton, AAC, and Dysphagia.
- This role involves regulated activity with children and adults and requires an enhanced DBS with barred list check.
