Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join our School in Wirral, Merseyside. This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people with complex needs, supporting their learning, confidence, and independence within a structured and nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Learning Support Assistant based in the Wirral, your daily duties will include:
- Providing individual, small group, and classroom support to help pupils access the curriculum and work towards their personal goals
- Working alongside teachers to deliver a broad, engaging, and personalised curriculum tailored to each pupil’s needs
- Building positive, trusting relationships that foster a safe and supportive learning environment
- Supporting educational and behavioural programmes designed around individual needs
- Encouraging pupils to develop confidence, independence, communication skills, and positive relationships
- Offering calm and consistent support for emotional wellbeing and behaviour management
- Monitoring and recording pupils’ academic, social, and emotional progress, sharing relevant information with the wider team
- Preparing resources and materials to make learning engaging, accessible, and enjoyable
- Participating in educational visits, enrichment activities, and outdoor learning experiences, including providing transport when required
Requirements & Qualifications:
To be successful as a Learning Support Assistant in the Wirral, you will need:
- GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4 or C, or equivalent
- A caring, patient, and compassionate approach to supporting young people
- The ability to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
- A calm, resilient attitude when faced with challenging situations
- Flexibility and adaptability to support individual needs effectively
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues
- Enthusiasm and a willingness to participate in a variety of activities and experiences
- A genuine desire to help young people grow in confidence, develop independence, and achieve their potential
