Our department is actively seeking a Learning Support Worker to join an outstanding SEN college located in Wrexham. The college is a specialist setting for young people aged 16–25 with Autism Spectrum Conditions and complex learning needs. As a Learning Support Worker, you will be a key part of each student’s journey—supporting them in both educational and life skills to help them thrive.

Location: Wrexham
Job Type: Full-time, Monday to Friday
Pay: £14 per hour

About the Role:

As a Learning Support Worker, you will work closely with students on a 1:1 or small group basis, both in and out of the classroom. You will assist learners in accessing their educational programmes, develop their independence, and provide emotional and behavioural support where needed.

This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about inclusive education and making a lasting impact on the lives of young people with special educational needs.

Key Requirements:

  • Experience working with individuals with Special Educational Needs (SEN)

  • Strong understanding of autism and associated behaviours

  • Ability to work proactively and calmly under pressure

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

  • Resilient, patient, and committed to inclusive education

  • A willingness to undertake personal care duties if required

  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)

Duties Will Include:

  • Supporting students in accessing learning across various subjects and settings

  • Promoting independence, confidence, and social development

  • Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and families

  • Assisting with communication and behavioural strategies

  • Supporting the implementation of EHCPs and individual learning plans

  • Helping students engage with vocational, life skills, and enrichment activities

  • Maintaining a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment

  • Upholding the college’s values and safeguarding protocols
