Operations Manager - Children's Homes

Location: Burton Upon Trent, Staffordshire
Salary: £53,000 - £60,000 per year, plus performance bonus
Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week (flexible to meet operational needs)
Start Date: ASAP

Are you an accomplished and highly motivated leader with a deep passion for transforming the lives of children and young people? Do you have an exceptional track record in children's residential services and a drive for excellence demonstrated through positive Ofsted judgments? If so, this is your opportunity to lead the way in a growing organisation!

My client is a dynamic and expanding provider of children's residential care, seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee two established 4-bed homes. One home specialises in supporting young people with Learning Disabilities (LD), and the other focuses on Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. With ambitious plans for further growth, we need a driven individual who can ensure outstanding care today while helping my client build for tomorrow.

What You'll Do:

As the Operations Manager, you'll be instrumental in shaping the success and quality of our services. Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Operational Leadership: Ensure the exemplary operational management of care delivery and services across both 4-bed children's homes, including maintaining high-quality environments.

  • Team Empowerment: Provide comprehensive line management support and supervision to the dedicated Home Managers, fostering their professional growth and ensuring team stability, competency, and motivation.

  • Quality & Compliance: Guarantee strict adherence to all organisational policies, procedures, and relevant legislation, with an unwavering commitment to achieving and maintaining outstanding Ofsted judgments.

  • Safeguarding Excellence: Lead all safeguarding matters, championing best practices and ensuring the paramount safety and well-being of all children and staff.

What You'll Bring:

We're looking for a highly skilled and passionate individual with:

  • Extensive Operations Experience: Proven experience in operations management within the childrens residential care sector, or a minimum of 5 years as a Children's Registered Manager in residential settings.

  • Children's Residential Expertise: In-depth, comprehensive knowledge of children's residential services and the regulatory landscape (Ofsted).

  • Track Record of Excellence: A proven history of achieving and maintaining positive Ofsted judgments (Good or Outstanding) in previous roles.

  • Leadership & Development: Demonstrated ability to manage, motivate, and develop high-performing teams in fast-paced environments.

  • Qualifications: A Level 5 Leadership and Management for Children's Care Services qualification (or equivalent) is essential.

  • Exceptional Communication: Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with all stakeholders.

  • Change & Drive: A clear ability to drive positive change and inspire motivation within the service.

  • Results-Oriented: A proven track record of consistently meeting targets and delivering exceptional results under pressure.

This is a pivotal role within an organisation poised for significant expansion. You'll have the autonomy to shape two critical services and directly contribute to the growth strategy. They offer a competitive salary, an attractive bonus structure, and the chance to truly make a difference in the lives of vulnerable young people within a supportive and driven environment.

If you are a motivated, driven, and highly knowledgeable leader ready to take on this exciting challenge, we encourage you to apply!

Her support made a real difference, and we truly appreciated her efforts.

We were initially contacted directly by Kerry from Vetro regarding a potential Registered Home Manager she was working with. I spoke with Kerry to discuss the role, our requirements, and the candidate she had in mind.

Highly recommend Vetro...would never consider another agency and that is down to Kerry.

I have previously worked with Kerry, and after letting her know I was looking for work again, it took her less than 2 days to come back with what I asked for. Not only that, she made sure I was prepared for the interview and checked in before and after, she did go above and beyond like previous, with a personal touch.

Honestly, you've been amazing.

You don't just get the roles we need, you get me, how I work, what kind of personalities click with me, and who's going to fit in with our wider team. That makes such a difference, especially at senior level.

Kerry was very friendly and easy to talk too.

I found her approach was very confidential and she respected my privacy of when to contact me and when I wouldn't be available. I appreciated her honest and transparent approach when applying for jobs in giving recommendations, and felt she remained professional at all times.
