Are you a dedicated and empathetic social worker passionate about supporting families and safeguarding children? We are seeking a Social Worker – Parenting Assessment Specialist to join a leading specialist provider on the Wirral. In this role, you will be part of a dynamic team working within a dedicated Parenting Assessment Unit, where your expertise will help families achieve positive outcomes. The position offers an exciting opportunity to work at the heart of family transformation, providing vital assessments and support to parents during a 12–14 week residential program designed to promote safe and nurturing homes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive parenting assessments, including specialist MALD assessments (training provided), and prepare court-ready reports such as Position Statements, Midway, and Weekly reports.
- Ensure quality assurance of weekly reports, analyze case notes, and provide clear guidance to Family Support Workers.
- Engage creatively with parents to help them understand their child's developmental milestones and basic care routines, adapting approaches to meet individual learning styles.
- Balance safeguarding needs and risks with parental rights and choices, ensuring children's safety while promoting parental independence.
- Collaborate effectively with partner agencies and coordinate with independent social workers when necessary.
- Participate in a duty rota to support the team and ensure continuous service delivery.
Requirements:
- Degree in Social Work (or equivalent) and current registration with Social Work England.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in social work.
- Strong critical reflection skills and excellent written communication.
- Knowledge of NICE guidelines, child developmental milestones, and GDPR compliance.
- Commitment to anti-discriminatory practice and working with families from diverse backgrounds.
- Desirable: Valid driving license and business insurance, proficiency in Microsoft Office, experience with Quality Assurance systems.
