Join a leading specialist provider dedicated to supporting adults and children who have experienced domestic or sexual abuse, harm, and violence. We are seeking a compassionate and dynamic Refuge Team Leader to oversee trauma-informed support services across refuges in Torfaen. This permanent role offers a meaningful opportunity to lead a dedicated team and make a real difference in people’s lives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead support workers, assistants, and relief staff in delivering trauma-informed care aligned with best practices and organisational values.
- Oversee daily refuge operations, ensuring a safe, compassionate environment where everyone feels heard, respected, and supported.
- Manage staff rotas to ensure adequate staffing and continuous service delivery.
- Supervise and promote a trauma-informed approach, responding sensitively to safeguarding concerns and escalating issues as necessary.
- Deliver direct, person-centred support to individuals, including risk assessments, support planning, and advocacy.
- Assist with access arrangements, including transport, initial paperwork, housing benefit claims, and settling-in support.
- Develop and review safety and support plans collaboratively with residents.
- Coordinate move-on and resettlement processes, fostering strong relationships with housing and support agencies.
- Participate in multi-agency meetings such as MARAC and safeguarding groups, ensuring all organisational actions are completed and appropriately recorded.
- Monitor operational health and safety, maintain accurate records, and oversee database management for licensing and contracts.
- Conduct regular house meetings to ensure resident involvement and address inter-resident issues.
- Contribute to organisational development projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Uphold organisational policies, legal compliance, and ethical standards in all aspects of work.
- Promote equality, diversity, and trauma-informed practice in day-to-day service delivery.
- Represent the organisation professionally at external meetings, conferences, and community events.
Candidate Requirements:
- Proven experience in domestic abuse support services or related social care fields.
- Strong leadership and line management skills, with the ability to supervise and motivate a diverse team.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed approaches and safeguarding procedures.
- Experience in risk assessment, support planning, and advocacy.
- Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, coordinate operational activities, and oversee service delivery.
- Flexibility to work evenings and occasional weekends as needed.
- Commitment to promoting equality, inclusion, and best practice in a refuge setting.
