Registered Manager - Supported Living

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Manager to lead a team in providing residential and supported accommodation for children and young people with complex needs. Our mission is to offer safe, nurturing homes where young people feel valued, heard, and supported to achieve their full potential.

As the Registered Manager, you will be responsible for the overall management and smooth operation of the service, shaping a positive culture of independence and safety.

  • Salary: £50,000 – £60,000 per annum (dependent on experience and qualifications).

  • Contract: Permanent, Full-time.


Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Service Leadership: Oversee day-to-day operations, including staffing, rota management, and resource allocation. Embed and implement policies, procedures, and best practices.

  • Team Management: Lead, supervise, and support a staff team, providing regular supervision, clear direction, and ongoing professional development.

  • Care Planning: Ensure high-quality, person-centred care plans are in place for each young person, promoting their safety, well-being, education, and independence.

  • Compliance & Safeguarding: Ensure full compliance with Ofsted requirements and all relevant regulations. Promote a strong safeguarding culture, ensuring all concerns are reported and followed up appropriately.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain effective relationships with local authorities, families, social workers, and health professionals.

  • Financial Oversight: Manage budgets and resources effectively, ensuring services are delivered efficiently and within agreed financial parameters.

  • On-Call Duties: Participate in an out-of-hours on-call rota and remain flexible to meet the changing needs of the service.


Essential Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years’ experience working within children’s or young people’s support services (residential or supported living).

  • Leadership: Proven experience in leading, managing, and motivating staff teams with a hands-on, visible leadership style.

  • Qualification: Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or a willingness to work towards this).

  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989 and safeguarding procedures. Deep knowledge of regulatory frameworks and Ofsted standards.

  • Skills: Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills, with experience in budget management.
