Children’s Home Manager (Nights)

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Children's Home Manager to lead our night-shift provision within a Specialist Mental Health residential service. This role is ideal for an experienced Deputy Manager looking to "step up" into management or an established Manager seeking a specific night-shift leadership pattern.
The service caters to young people aged 12–18 who require intensive support due to mental illness and risks of self-injurious behaviours. You will assist the Head of Service in achieving the aims of the Statement of Purpose while ensuring a safe, nurturing environment during the night.

Salary: Up to £50,000 per annum (Dependent on experience).

Welcome Bonus: £5,000 bonus paid upon successful registration.

Hours: Permanent night shifts (3 – 4 nights per week).
Key Responsibilities and Duties

Operational Leadership: Manage the night-shift operations of the home, ensuring the safety and well-being of young people with complex mental health needs.

Clinical Awareness: Utilise knowledge of the Mental Health Act and trauma-informed care to support children with emotional and social difficulties.

Team Development: Lead and inspire a team of night staff, promoting self-reflection, core behavioural skills, and professional interaction.

Compliance: Ensure all night-shift activities align with The Quality Standards, SCCIF, and current childcare legislation.

Management Support: Assist the Head of Service in budget control, resource allocation, and the overall strategic objectives of the site.
Essential Requirements

Experience: At least 2 years in a role related to the residential care of children, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role within the last 5 years.

Qualifications: Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare is essential.

Skills: Proficiency in planning, organizing, and team leadership. Confidence in professional spoken and written communication.

Specialist Knowledge: A strong understanding of the needs of children with behavioural and emotional difficulties, including trauma-informed management of challenging behaviour.

Licence: A Full UK Driving Licence is required.

Registration: Please note, this specific night-shift role does not hold the legal registration for the home.
