Job Overview
We are seeking an ambitious and experienced Registered Manager to lead a children’s residential home in Basildon, supporting young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD). The successful candidate will take full operational responsibility for the service, ensuring it meets and exceeds Ofsted Quality Standards. You will lead a dedicated team, manage referrals, and foster a nurturing environment where children can thrive and achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities and Duties

Operational Leadership: Oversee the daily management of the home, ensuring all operations align with the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015.

Ofsted Compliance: Maintain a high standard of care to achieve or maintain a 'Good' or 'Outstanding' Ofsted rating. Lead all regulatory inspections and quality assurance processes.

Team Development: Recruit, mentor, and supervise a staff team, fostering a professional, trauma-informed culture and providing regular appraisals.

Referral Management: Work closely with Local Authorities to manage occupancy levels and ensure new admissions align with the home's therapeutic environment.

Safeguarding: Act as the lead for safeguarding within the home, ensuring robust risk assessments and protection policies are in place.

Financial Oversight: Manage the service budget, resource allocation, and staffing rotas effectively to ensure sustainability and quality of care.

Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with families, social workers, healthcare professionals, and other external stakeholders.
Essential Requirements

Experience: At least 2 years’ experience working as a Registered Manager or Deputy Manager within a children's residential setting.

Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth understanding of the SCCIF, Ofsted inspection frameworks, and safeguarding legislation.

Qualification: Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent) is essential.

Leadership Skills: Proven track record of leading teams and managing challenging behaviour through positive, therapeutic interventions.

Communication: Excellent professional writing skills for reporting and effective spoken communication for multi-agency meetings.

Licence: A Full UK Driving Licence is required.
